Amazon Kindle Fire is Here, Competitor of iPad?

Courtesty of Amazon

For years, the iPad from Apple has been the goliath of tablets. With over 25 million units sold worldwide and counting, the Kindle Fire from Amazon is taking on the challenge to keep up with the giant. Kindle Fire is out today and according to a recent survey from Retrevo, 44% of tablet shoppers are interested to buy the Kindle Fire with only 12% geared towards buying an Apple iPad. Seems like the iPad finally met its match.

What’s Appealing About Kindle Fire?

It has an unbelievably low price. At only $199 vs iPad’s $499, it is by far more affordable. It is even considered as the best holiday gift this season. If you want a handier tablet, the Kindle Fire is less bulky than the iPad, which is only 7.5 inches in length compared to iPad’s 9.5 inches. It is also lighter at only 0.91 lbs. Both gadgets have camera function and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Amazon Kindle, the Kindle Fire predecessor, is a popular black and white e-book reader which made it big in the US. Now a tablet, the Kindle Fire comes in full color with a resolution of 1024 x 600 dpi. On top of being an e-book reader, users can browse the Internet, watch movies, listen to music, play games and use tons of applications available at Amazon Appstore for Android.
