Huawei MediaPad Launched at CommunicAsia 2011

Huawei MediaPad Launched, Full Specifications

Huawei launched their tablet that will compete the Samsung Galaxy Tab, but with an Android Honeycomb 3.2 OS , Definitely this unit will defeat the Galaxy Tab because of it’s specification.

Huawei MediaPad Specifications:

  • Android Honeycomb 3.2 OS
  • 7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen
  • 10.5mm (0.4 inches) slim, ~390g weight (0.86 pounds)
  • 1.3 MP front-facing camera, 5 MP auto focus rear-facing camera with HD video recording capabilities
  • HSPA+ 14.4 Mbps, WiFi 11n
  • Dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor
  • Over 6 hours of battery life
  • 1080P full HD playback and HDMI port
  • Flash 10.3
  • 8GB of memory

It is great the the unit have a Dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor, but of course great power consume more battery. Wifi only version will surely come out soon. I have not seen the release date and cost of this unit. But definitely it will just compete with the price range of Samsung Galaxy Tab.

But will this unit compete with other leading brand in the market like Motorola Xoom, Acer Iconia and Blackberry Playbook.

The Chinese company says that the memory can be upgraded further via a micro-SD card slot.

The Huawei MediaPad also features  Bluetooth, 802.11n WiFi and GPS support. MediaPad is said to measure 10.5mm thick and weighs 390g.

The tablet was unveiled at the CommunicAsia 2011 convention in Singapore.

Huawei MediaPad has a nice specs.. but you’re right, it consume more power(battery). moreover, I don’t think they can defeat the Samsung Galaxy Tab, which is the only rival of iPad (in terms of market position).. imho…

and for Huawei MediaPad to become a hit, then they must add more life on their battery. 🙂

Great Feed Dex! With so many tablets coming out it was valuable info you shared especially with the specs. Now, I know which direction I’m leaning towards. What are your thoughts on the playbook?

      @Bernard Barcenilla,

Thanks. Well for me, I don’t like the limitation of apps for playbook compared to android and apple apps. I have not tried the unit but when it comes to it’s operating system i would definitely choose an android or apple based tablet.

Tablet is a gadget that could replace our computer so if the gadget lacks of application it will be useless and will not serves it’s purpose.

It is also the reason why there are lots of Windows user compared to apple, even there are lots of virus for windows user, the number of application compatible to windows is greater than apple based computer.

But ofcoure a blackberry phone will work smoothly with playbook.
