Vizio Has Two New Ultrabooks

Vizio is trying its luck in the Ultrabook market with two new notebooks. This marks the company’s first attempt at creating computers, after long establishing its name as a maker of pocket-friendly HD televisions.

Its new devices sport minimalist designs that appear in line with the Apple aesthetics. However, its price range of $899.99 to $1,249.99 is relatively cheaper when compared with Mac devices or even other high-end Ultrabooks.

Both these factors will help it compete with more popular Ultrabook makers such as Asus, Acer, HP, Lenovo, Dell, and Samsung. To stand out from the group, however, Vizio includes in its products high resolution displays. Specifically, its fourteen-inch display laptop has a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels while the fifteen-inch display laptop has one of 1920 x 1080. They also measure only 0.33 inch in depth and feature an aluminum-based body that is both elegant and lightweight.

Inside, both of these devices run on Intel Ivy Bridge, which gives users several options as to their processing speed. Users can opt for the i3-3110M processor which is clocked at 2.4GHz; the i5-3210M which goes as fast as 2.5GHz; or the i7-3610QM, which has a speed of 2.3GHz. Meanwhile, for the hard drive, users can have as little as 500 GB up to 1 TB of storage. Users on a Core i7 processor likewise get a 32 GB solid state disk to boost computing speed. As for memory, users get at least 4 GB on the Vizio notebooks. Its other features include NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M LE graphics, WiFi, Bluetooth, a 720p HD camera, HDMI out, a card reader, and an Ethernet port. The battery is able run for around 6 hours.

Although Vizio is a newcomer in the Ultrabook scene, its new device appears to have much to offer for consumers looking for a good-looking laptop with a reasonable price. On the other hand, the actual reviews and sales figures should perhaps be considered before one gives a verdict on these devices.
