Samsung to reveal Galaxy Note II on August 30

Samsung could reveal the next iteration of the Samsung Galaxy Note phablet during an Unpacked event on August 30 in Berlin, Germany. The event is scheduled right before the opening of the Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (IFA) trade show scheduled to be held in the same area.

Samsung’s Unpacked ceremonies are events where the South Korean electronics giant often unveils new flagship devices. This year, the first Unpacked event revealed the Samsung Galaxy S III in London last May.

The company is hosting a developer’s event right before the Unpacked event, which means that developers who signed up for the gathering could be among the first ones to set their eyes on the new phablet.

Samsung, for its part, has not specified that the Unpacked event is for the new Note, but given the strong rumors surrounding the phablet, there is little else that the company could reveal.

The new Samsung Galaxy Note is believed to have a 5.5-inch display, a quad-core Exynos or Qualcomm processor, a thinner bezel, and a 10 to 12 megapixel camera. Many of its hardware specifications are furthermore expected to be the same as those found on the Samsung Galaxy S III.

There are speculations that Samsung might also unveil the Note II with the larger version of the original Note that carries a 10.1 inch display.

During last year’s IFA event, Samsung simultaneously featured the Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, and the Wave 3 smartphone running on Bada.

Developers interested in these gatherings could now register. Samsung will send out invitations for those registrations it approves this coming August 1.
