Mark the date. Microsoft is set to launch its Surface tablet and the latest version of its OS, Windows 8 in three weeks. Invitations sent out by the software giant mentions a “Surface Reception†on October 25. The event is set to kick start at 10am EST.

Expected to be announced during the event is the pricing of this new tablet which rumors have set as anywhere from $600 to $800. But more recent reports are saying that the Surface for Windows RT could launch at $199 to compete with Google’s Nexus 7 tablet. Rumors are also saying that only the Wi-Fi version will launch this month and a 3G version will follow later on.
Microsoft has announced previously that it will open its pop-up stores’ doors in the US and Canada on October 26 where it is expected to showcase the company’s latest gadgets and its new Surface tablet computer. The technology giant had been looking for retail store managers and other personnel for their “Microsoft Holiday Stores†previous to this announcement. It is unclear until when these stores would operate but what is sure is that they will open for the Surface launch at midnight and will start selling the gadgets on October 26th.
