MyFord Mobile App Named Best Mobile App at CES 2012
With the culmination of the CES 2012 in Las Vegas, consumers are looking for the best consumer products that graced the biggest technology event of the year. One new category joined the lineup of awards this year- the Software and Mobile Apps category. The Best Innovation award for this group was given to Ford Motor Company for My Ford Mobile App.
One of the key features of the app is to allow Focus Electric users to have power over their car functions and control certain car features with the use of a smartphone or via internet connection on the web. This is a very useful and powerful app that has a lot of advantages to a lot of people. Vehicle owners can plan routes, control charge level, pinpoint charging station and the option cool or preheat their car via remote access. This is just some of the features of the innovative MyFord Mobile App.
The company has combined three powerful technology trends- Focus Electric, hyper milling and social networking. MapQuest looks for EV charging locations so drivers can create efficient routes. You can also share information using the app to your Facebook and Twitter accounts. There is even an option for Focus Electric users to compete with each other to see who can emit the least carbon dioxide by saving on gas. This is a cool way driver can be encouraged to go green.
MyFord Mobile app has indeed change the usage of electric vehicles to a whole new level.
In the past 10 years, Ford has taken their shitty 90s image and transformed themselves into a wonderfully innovative car company. Tip o’ the Hat to them. Great app concept!
