Just a few days back, I and a friend were scouring the gadget area of a super mall looking for a new phone. What we discovered was quite fascinating – instead of people going gaga over the latest Samsung Galaxy S5, the hottest gadget in stores right now is the Samsung Galaxy S2 Duos!
Now why would anyone want a phone that was released almost 2 years ago (the phone was released on September 2012)? Well, I’ve found out the reasons why. Read more to learn why!
Features
First of all, the phone has dual SIM capabilities, a very trending feature right now. Almost all of us want to be connected in several networks so having this capability in a Smartphone is very much a welcome treat.
You might think that the S II Duos is a bit bulky because of the added luggage but it is surprisingly light. Just weighing around 138 g with dimensions 129.8 x 68.9 x 9.7mm, you’ll hardly notice this phone in your pocket.
The display has an acceptable width of 4.52 inches or 480 x 800 pixels with 206 ppi pixel density. We would love it if the S II Duos has at least 5 inches of display but the Corning Gorilla Glass protection more than makes up for it. Moreover, the screen type is a Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touch screen with 16 million colors which gives a smooth and crisp display.
For the gaming and movie enthusiast, the S2 Duos has an internal memory of 16GbB with 1GB of RAM with a card slot of a microSD which is expandable up to 32GB.
Now for the selfie lover, you’ll get an 8MP camera with autofocus and LED flash. It also has geo-tagging, face and smile detection, touch focus, and image stabilization capabilities. Never again will your selfies look blurry and never again will your selfies be limited by darkness! It also has a secondary 2MP camera and HD video capabilities of 1080p at 30 frames per second.
The whole gadget is running on Android operating system with a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU. It also comes in black or white.
To top it all off, the Samsung Galaxy S2 Duos only costs around P7,000 – P7,500 so the gadget is practically a bargain.

If you’re on a tight budget and looking for a budget friendly phone that does it all, then the Samsung Galaxy S2 Duos is a match made in heaven for you.
