epassport for Filipino Travelers

epassport for Philippines Travellers

Update : Please see updated information on renewing E-Passport in Riyadh Saudi Arabia

I saw it in the news [ Tv Patrol ] that Philippines is now going to release the epassport which can be used in having any travel visa in any part of the world.

The news said :

Beginning December, the Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Affairs will issue epassport to comply with the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization.

The epassport was launched during the 110th Founding Anniversary of the department.

Consular Affairs Assistant Secretary Domingo Lucenario said a French company, Francois Charles Oberthur, won the bidding for the epassport conducted by the Bangko Sentral. Fourteen companies  participated in the bidding.

He said Francois is the same company responsible for the epassport in Belgium, the first country in the world to comply with the ICAO standard.

The epassport has a chip where the security features and personal data of the holder are stored making it difficult for syndicates to commit passport fraud.

As what I have seen in the news the passport will contain electronic information of the passport holder. We don’t have to bring pictures during renewal since DFA will use camera in order to save it in their database and to be embedded in the chips.

So Filipinos will be able to proved that their passport are also high tech 🙂

This passport will be used for Travel Visa and Visa Application to any part of the World. They said that thru this method it will now be hard for crooks to use somebody passport.

I just hope that it will not increase payments of Passport or it will be an extra burden for OFW workers.

So after 3 years I will have to renew my passport and get mine 🙂 Mabuhay Philippines.
