    @ Amy,

Thanks dropping by and responding to my question at my blog.

    @ McBilly

It is true that sometime people ttend to have freedom, Since if it will be distributed by Globe it will also be sim block by globe. But you know here in Saudi Arabia they unblock those codes and make it open line.

I’m really happy about the news. But I already have friends owning an iPhone using both Smart and Globe. I guess, we’ll just have to see if people will jump in.

*takes too much work: the risk of getting bricked from a failed unlock/waiting for hacked versions of new firmware versions/etc., not to mention official warranty; I’ll be astounded if anyone would still prefer to import (it’s almost sure it’ll be cheaper to import, but I wouldn’t want to go through all that fuss)

Feasible from a business perspective? Why, yes. I and many other I’ve talked to have held out for official availability because it takes too much work to maintain an unofficial/unlocked unit. Besides, all it takes is the uptake of the local Mac market + artistas + feeling artistas and they only need to sell a couple of these things to turn up a profit. (cross-posted from here)
